You have probably heard about the Chrysler's sister brands Jeep and RAM earning a diesel variant to their most beloved vehicles in their given lineups. Many of our Chrysler enthusiasts are probably interested in finding out if a diesel engine is going to be offered for any new Chrysler car? We are delighted to say the folks at Chrysler are talking about, which hopefully means that we will see a diesel offering sometime soon.
The Head of Chrysler, Saad Chehab noted that Chrysler is considering adding a diesel variant to the Chrysler 300. Don't get ahead of yourselves though…this has been no more than discussion. And, if something does come of the talks we most likely won't see anything for another year or so. But, the folks at A.M. Maus and Son are delighted to hear that they are talking about such addition.
Our friends across the pond are already experiencing a 300 V-6 engine from VM Motori, the company who is in charge of the diesel engines on the Grand Cherokee and RAM 1500. These diesel engines helped both models earn approximately 30 mpg on the highway. With the big vehicles being this fuel efficient imagine the possible efficiency for the Chrysler sedan.
The one major challenge of bringing the 300 diesel from Europe to the United States is our stricter emissions standards. But, we have full confidence in Chrysler that they will make the necessary tweaks and adjustments to make sure the 300 along with perhaps the revitalized Chrysler 200 will make it to the A.M. Maus and Son showroom as diesel autos.
