The 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee is being brought into the fold of truly off-road oriented Jeep SUVS with the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk edition. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Jeep released one a couple of years ago to test the waters. However, it hasn’t been a yearly standard option like in the 2016 Jeep Cherokee and 2016 Jeep Renegade.
The news that the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is getting a Trailhawk edition is a welcome one as in the past while you could opt for the Up Country package, which also included tow hooks, an extra inch of ground clearance, and skid plates. The Trailhawk adds more of a true off-road vibe and incentive to avid Jeep fans.
Furthermore, you’re no longer stuck between choosing the regular Cherokee and smaller Renegade if you want to truly venture off-road into the greater St. Cloud wilderness. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk melds the new and old Jeep exterior look a bit closer together this year. While Jeep SUVs have taken on a new front fascia and overall design in the last several years, the Grand Cherokee still retained the boxier, more upright grille and angled headlights. This year for the Trailhawk we still see that but it seems slightly more round. Beneath the grille are too prominent tow hooks.
While all the details of the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk are still being discovered, Jeep also showed off its new 2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk edition. The Renegade is the Jeep answer to a compact crossover vehicle. And the Trailhawk edition this year makes it a true 4x4 machine. Anodized red tow hooks in the front and back, skid plates, and several driving modes really up the ante this year. For example, say you’re traversing some particularly difficult rocks while on the way to that perfectly hidden Minnesota lake. Initiate Rock mode with a hill-descent feature and 20:1 crawl ratio. You’ll be taking Instagrams by the lake in no time.
