FIAT Chrysler is shifting gears in their production plans to focus on what the stats say American drivers want more of, pickup trucks. Over the last couple of years, drivers have shown more interest in trucks, small SUVs, crossovers. In essence, the utility vehicle reigns.
The shift isn’t crazy. In our changing and evolving world, people want the most out of their stuff. We want phones that let us watch live TV and then pay for our food with a swipe at the grocery store. Why should we want anything different in something else most of us use every day like our automobile? The shift will bring some noticeable changes, but here at A. M. Maus and Son, we think a lot of the changes will be good. One we’re looking forward to is the future of one of our favorite pickup lines, the RAM 1500 and RAM 2500. The current 2016 RAM 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that doesn’t take up too much space, and can hold its own both on and off the road. Not to mention the interior feels more like a luxury vehicle than a rough and tough off-roading beast.
The next lineup looks to include the 2017 RAM 1500 Rebel and Power Wagon. In addition to an updated look both outside and in which “match its aggressive behavior,” according to RAM, the whole heavy duty lineup is getting more off-road power. Being Minnesota drivers, we know that while you can easily get around the whole state on paved roads, it’s always good to have some extra off-roading power behind you. Whether you’re going camping or work in an industry like landscaping that requires you to haul heavy equipment and materials around.
“We’ve had customers ask us for an off-road truck in our heavy-duty series, but we’re not going to limit it. We’re going to have it available with every single cab, with every single powertrain, in all the trims and with all the colors,” said RAM brand head Bob Hegbloom, according to Automotive News.
Some of the off-roading enhancements will come in the form of hill descent control, larger tires, better suspension, lockers, etc. And if you want the features without the bolder new look of the Power Wagon, the RAM Tradesman Crew Cab 4x4 model sports a more classic RAM design.
Here at A. M. Maus and Son, we believe that we can offer a great pickup option for any type of driver. Head on down to our dealership at 21 Maus Drive today to check out our current Truck Month offerings.
