Every year Jeep® automakers unveil some wild Jeep concepts to showcase at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. And this year’s concepts might just be wildest of all. Jeep vehicles range from the family-friendly 2016 Jeep Cherokee to the convenient crossover styled 2016 Jeep Renegade.
And though the 2016 Jeep Wrangler is a rough and tough off-roader, that hasn’t stopped one of our favorite automakers, here at A. M. Maus and Son, from coming up with some extreme concepts to showcase at the Easter Jeep Safari.
Speaking of the Wrangler, the most notable of all the concepts that will grace the hallowed ground at the 50th Easter Jeep Safari is dubbed the Trailcat. Jeep automakers have sort of played Doctor Frankenstein and combined parts from other FIAT Chrysler parts to create something that isn’t a monster, but a beauty.
The Trailcat is a Wrangler that’s been extended 12-inches and outfitted with a shorter windshield. It’s also got huge bolted up 17-inch wheels to give it an opposing stance. And if that’s not enough, it’s been outfitted with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 “Hellcat” engine. This engine allows the Trailcat to make 707-horsepower. It’s the same engine that goes in the supercharged 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat trim.
But that’s not the only notable Jeep to be at the event. The iconic 4x4 manufacturer also made a striking pickup truck version of the Jeep Renegade that is being called the Renegade Commander. While this Renegade Commander Looks a bit like a war vehicle, it’s great to see that Jeep has made a pickup truck concept to show off. Because even though it’s a concept now, it could prove to be the first step in Jeep giving us a long anticipated and desired street version of a pickup.
