There’s an easy way to keep your Jeep® in tip-top shape: You need to give it regular service. This guide will help you figure out what type of Jeep service you need and when. Of course, this isn’t set in stone; be sure to review your owner’s manual for more detailed information.
Oil Changes
Depending on how much you drive, you may not need to change your oil until you hit the 10,000-mile mark. The general recommendation is between 5,000 and 10,000 miles.
However, if you consistently drive in very dry or dusty conditions, the oil get dirtier faster, so that number may be as low as 3,000 miles. Regardless, it’s a very good idea to get your oil changed every six months or so.
Cleaning and Replacing Filters
Filters – oil, fuel, and air – need to be cleaned regularly. Having them looked at when you get the oil changed is wise. Eventually filters will get so dirty that they will need to be replaced. Generally, this should be done every 30,000 miles.
Tire Rotations and Replacements
The best way to get the longest life out of your tires is by rotating them. This allows them to wear more evenly.
Again, doing this when you get the oil changed is an easy way to remember. As for replacing them, well-rotated tires can usually go about 20,000 miles before they will need to be swapped out for new ones.
Brakes and Battery Checks
Because the brakes and battery are vital components, they should be looked at regularly, at least once per year. Brake pads and shoes are typically good for up to 50,000 miles.
Rotors may be fine for an addition 10,000 miles. Batteries can usually last up to five years.
