In the market for a compact SUV? If Jeep® and Kia are on your list of prospective brands, this comparison of the Jeep Compass and Kia Seltos can help you narrow down your choices:
Power- and Drivetrain
The Jeep Compass comes with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that pumps out 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, though a nine-speed automatic is available. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can opt for four-wheel drive. The Kia Seltos has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 146 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft. of torque paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive is standard.
Off-Road Ability
Few (if any) brands can compete with Jeep when it comes to off-roading. When you go with four-wheel drive, you will get the Selec-Terrain traction management system that has settings for mud, sand, and snow. The Trailhawk trim is the most capable off-roader, as its four-wheel drive system comes with low-range gearing. You will also get hill descent control, a traction setting specifically for rock, and an off-road suspension. The Kia Seltos doesn’t have any of these features, and it’s really only meant for paved roads.
Tech
The Jeep Compass has many built-in tech components. These include remote keyless entry, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and two USB ports. Bluetooth®, voice recognition, and a six-speaker stereo are also standard. The Kia Seltos has some of the same tech features, but if you’ll want more than one USB port, you would need to upgrade.
