Jeep® Warning Lights at a Glance

Routine car service and care are very important, but you also want to be able to recognize service needs between maintenance appointments. Here’s a look at some of the common warning lights that may appear on your Jeep dashboard.

o   Oil Warning Light: The oil warning light looks like a vintage oil can. It comes on when your oil levels are low or the oil needs to be changed, around every 7,500-10,000 miles.

o   Charging System Light: The charging system light appears as a small battery and indicates one of two potential problems. Either your battery is struggling to maintain a charge, or the alternator is no longer sending power to the battery. It should be addressed right away.

o   Check Engine Light: The check engine light, which looks like a small engine, can come on for many reasons. It may even the be the result of a loose gas cap. If simple fixes don’t make the light go off, schedule Jeep service as soon as possible.

o   Brake Warning Light: The brake warning light, often represented by the word brake or an exclamation point, means your brake system needs attention, like new brake pads. It can also indicate that your emergency brake is engaged.
